Περιγραφή
Laskarina Pinotsi (known as Bouboulina, from the surname of her second husband) was born in 1771 in Constantinople and grew up on the island of Spetses. From her two husbands, Dimitrios Giannouzas and Dimitrios Bouboulis, she inherited a vast fortune, which she devoted entirely to the cause of the Greek War of Independence. She was one of the few women accepted as a member of the Filiki Eteria (Friendly Society). Immediately after her initiation, she began purchasing weapons and ammunition, and she had a ship built with 18 cannons, the Agamemnon, which became the flagship of her fleet. At the same time, she organized and maintained, at her own expense, a military force composed of men from Spetses.
